Where Imagination, storytelling and Craftsmanship meet.
Laszlo Katona is a Canadian artist, sculptor and film-industry creative whose work crosses the boundaries between fine art, fantasy, nature and storytelling. Drawing on decades of creating for both canvas and film, his paintings range from colourful character-driven worlds and the Smelly Katz Collection to atmospheric landscapes, surreal compositions and nature-inspired works.
Each painting is an original work created by Laszlo Katona. Many carry their own story, inspiration and history, with selected works having been exhibited or displayed in British Columbia and beyond.

Flight of Balance captures the tension between power and vulnerability, movement and control. A dramatic winged figure carries a smaller form through a sky alive with colour, pattern and motion. Bold graphic lines and interlocking shapes transform the scene into a symbolic journey — a moment suspended between struggle, protection and freedom.

Birdwatcher Katz captures one of those wonderfully ironic moments from the Smelly Katz Collection — a wide-eyed Katz sits quietly beneath a gathering of cheerful birds, seemingly caught somewhere between fascination, curiosity and instinct. The sweeping blue branches, playful architecture and exaggerated expression create a whimsical world where the watcher may be just as interesting as what is being watched.

Original Acrylic on Canvas

Autumn Birch draws the viewer into a secluded woodland where brilliant white birch trunks emerge from layers of deep earth, autumn foliage and shadow. A still pool in the foreground catches fragments of the forest and blue sky, creating a quiet transition between the world above and its reflection below.
Heavy texture and loosely defined forms give the painting an almost dreamlike quality—the forest seems less like a specific place and more like a memory of walking somewhere alone, just as the seasons begin to change.
Currently on display in a Vancouver B.C. Home.
Available — $850.00

Original Acrylic on Canvas
40"X30"
Articulated in Tuscany transforms the romantic Tuscan countryside into a story of connection. Two articulated figures reach toward one another across a richly patterned landscape, their joined hands becoming the emotional centre of the painting.
The contrast is deliberate: mechanical wooden forms are placed within an organic world of rolling hills, cypress trees, vineyards and distant villas. The female figure, dressed in flowing blue and carrying flowers, introduces softness and life while her companion remains exposed in his articulated form.
Their gesture suggests companionship, trust and the willingness to follow another person into an unknown landscape. Above them, fragmented colour breaks through the sky, giving the scene the feeling of memory, imagination and movement.

Original Acrylic on Canvas
30"X40"
Rainy Gastown Reverie captures Vancouver’s historic Gastown in one of its most familiar moods—rain, mist and the warm glow of city lights reflected across wet pavement.
Umbrella-covered figures move quietly through the scene while the architecture and iconic clock emerge through the haze. Rather than portraying the city with sharp detail, Laszlo Katona allows forms, reflections and distant lights to dissolve into the rain, creating the feeling of a half-remembered evening.
Cool blues and greys are punctuated by warm amber windows and streetlights, transforming an ordinary rainy walk into a moment of solitude, nostalgia and quiet contemplation.
Currently on display in Katona Fine Art Studio in Cobble Hill B.C.
Available — $750.00

Original Acrylic on Canvas

Lotus Pier invites the viewer along a weathered wooden dock stretching into deep, still water. Colourful water lilies and lily pads gather alongside the pier while a solitary boat waits quietly at its end.
The unusually long composition creates the feeling of actually standing at the shoreline and following the dock with your eyes toward the darkness beyond. The contrast between the richly coloured flowers, worn timber and shadowed water gives the painting a sense of both serenity and mystery.
It is a painting about the journey toward stillness—the pier leading forward, the boat waiting, and nature quietly flourishing along the way.
